WHEW! What a busy last few days!
Kylie's graduation company all started arriving Friday afternoon. 4 different flights came into Bush Airport and one car load of family also arrived. Once everyone got to the house that night we grilled burgers, brats, and hot dogs. Everyone enjoyed sitting outside as it was perfect temps for the mid-west family. It was an early night as everyone was tired.
Saturday Kev and I were up early getting things done--tents up, making appetizers and Sunday's brunch, last minute cleaning, getting balloons, setting dishes out, and getting the food. Once the Krolczyk's arrived around 2:00 we brought Kylie in and played her DVD for her of all her pictures growing up. Tina did an awesome job of putting the music to the pictures. It will always be a treasured memory! By the time I got home with the fajitas, Tina and Shawn had the margaritas going. Charmion brought the cake over--so cool!
We had steady flow of guests from 4:30-7:30 and way too much food left over! We really enjoyed seeing lots of friends we hadn't seen for awhile!
Sunday we had brunch with the family and Hettiger's joined us as well. Kylie opened her gifts. Everyone was very generous to her. My mom made her a quilt from her swim t-shrits. I know Ky was looking forward to seeing how it turned out and yes, she loved it!
It was a teary-eyed time when Kylie opened her gift for Gene. Max had embroidered dish towels and pillow cases back in 1998 and had them saved for the graduation. What a special gift she'll always treasure.
Then it was time for my siblings to head back to Iowa! We did capture a quick family picture.
Then it was time to get ready for graduation, beginning with more family pictures!
The ceremony went much faster than I ever imagined, although waiting in traffic to get there was very slow! It really put into perspective just how smart Kylie is when you see her sitting in the first two rows and 700 students sitting behind her. Smart girl!
Monday morning at 5:30 Kylie left for camp. She was so excited to go and neither Kev nor I cried. We hope to see her Dad's Day weekend. Monday night Kole had a baseball game and they won 6-4.
Tuesday night Kole had a game as well and lost 5-4, but Kole made an amazing catch in left-field and had a great hit! We then went out for pizza with the Suddendorf's.
Today all the Suddendorf's headed home, Kole and Kevin are watching a high school game, and I'm facilitating a couple of online classes and getting ready to just "chill". I thought I'd enjoy these few moments of silence, but I am missing all the noise. What a great 5 days it was!
