Proud Moments

I can say I'm blessed to have been part of so many proud moments in my family's life--Kylie finally breaking her 30.33 time in swimming, Kylie getting accepted to A&M, Kylie nailing her RST lessons, Kole making some awesome double-plays, Kole being a good friend to others, Kole never giving up even when he felt like he should, but last night was one more proud moment.

Kevin earned a 100-8 record while at Aragon over the last 4 years in basketball. He's been coaching basketball for "a long time", but it wasn't until the last 4 years that he started keeping up with his record. Last night, he knew if he could get through the first 2 games, he could do it. The C game was a bit of a challenge, but he pulled it off. Although it was sad seeing Kole and Kev give each other a hug when that game ended--bittersweet emotions! The A game was just fun--he could if he wanted (but it didn't happen) have just sat back and watched them play. But that's not who he is, no he was still trying to help make them better players. Although he could've put 100 points on the scoreboard (wouldn't that have been cool, 100 points on victory 100), he didn't because he doesn't believe in running up a score--proud moment again!

Once there was no time left on the clock, the 2 other teams and fans stormed the floor to be part of the celebration--all 3 teams undefeated and victory 100! One of the players took a water bottle and dunked Kev with it--not quite the same thing as a gatorade jug! Pictures, handshakes, a gift giving, and trophy case stop. This was an amazing group of boys!

All the players left for Willies to celebrate. Fans went home, including Ky and me. Come to find out Kev stayed and sat in the empty gym--just thinking and soaking it all in. After he got home and tried to relax with a cold one, he talked about the hard work and talent of his players and some of the "luck" he had this season. When I tried to suggest that it was his smart coaching that helped them achieve 27-0, he had a hard time thinking it could be part him that led to their success. He's an amazing man and so proud to call him my best friend!
