The Rest of the Vacation

Saturday, July 10 Gary and Kathe hosted a potluck lunch at their home for friends and families of the bride and groom. Although it was a bit warm (for Michigan standards, anyway) it was an enjoyable, relaxed afternoon. That evening, Erich and Steph opened wedding gifts that were at Gary's home. We then said our goodbyes to them as they were going home to get ready for their honeymoon on a Carribean cruise.

Sunday was spent sleeping! Ky, Kole, and Jessi played cards with the grandparents. They enjoyed dethroning the grandparent's many victories! We had a delicious dinner at Ron and Sandra's and watched the golfers go by their home. We also enjoyed some Michigan beers.

Monday we went to see Jessi and Michael's new home out in the country. They are really going to enjoy all that land and peacefullness that country living has to offer. Kev spent many hours trying to get the doorbell to work for them, but no luck! He was successful at raising the lighting fixture above their kitchen table though! That evening we ate at Beggar Dave's, a hamburger place which had the most delicious sweet potato chips! NUMMY!!!

Tuesday morning we left at 7:00 for Dubuque. We made a stop for doughnuts and lunch. We arrived in East Dubuque to pick up the guys root beer and say good bye to Gene and Max. We had a couple of hours to "chill" at Amy's before they got home from work. Leah was in rare form that night, entertaining us all! We enjoyed Happy Joe's pizza which brought back many memories to Kev and me.

Wednesday morning we left Dubuque at 4:00 AM for Houston. We pulled in the drive at 10:40 PM. Enough long-distance driving for us for the summer!

Thursday we did endless laundry, cleaning, and getting last minute things for Ky for camp. I even cooked a real meal and had a coffee cake made to throw in the oven this AM. I'm looking forward to being able to spend more time cooking and baking now that grad school has ended.

Running some errands this afternoon before we enjoy a Mexican dinner tonight. The last "hurrah" before Ky leaves for camp tomorrow afternoon. Good thing I have lots to do the time to keep my mind occupied while she's gone; otherwise, I think it would be a long 3 weeks!
