I'd been hearing a great deal about Skype from someone I work with whose children both went off to college this year. She loves being able to talk with them in person and "check up" on them. She says it's "super easy" to use.
So...during Christmas break I investigated it a bit. It did sound simple enough. I really wanted to be able to Skype with family members. We did a "test" with my parents' computer and it seemed like it would work. I then ordered a web cam to be sent to them for their birthday.
The camera came in this week, so Kylie was going to help them with everything this morning. It just so happened that my youngest sister was at my parents helping them celebrate their birthday, so she was the "tech back-up".
After many attempts at trying different things, Kole was able to problem-solve the situation and got Skype up and running. Not only did we get to see our parents, but we also got to see my 3.5 year old niece--Leah. We loved being able to see everyone. Ky even commented, "As frustrating as it was getting everything up and running, that was cool!"
Hopefully this will encourage my sister to get a web cam also.
