May Challenge: Day 3 Airport Scare

May 4, 2011 (1 day late on challenge of day 3)

Dear Kylie,

When you were about two years old, Grandma Zieman flew Great Grandma and Grandpa Overland down to Houston to see you and see where we lived. They spent a long weekend with us. When it was time to go back you and I took them to the airport. At that time, those who didn't fly could go back to the gate and wait with the passengers. At the gate we were waiting at they had a mini-slide for young children to play on while waiting. You were having a great time going up and down the slide until one time when you were at the top of the slide and fell backwards. Bang, your head hit the concrete floor pretty hard and you were out cold. I was screaming frantically. By the time a DR got there you started to come to, but you had a huge knot on your head and your eyes were quite "iffy." At that time, there was an after hours care facility right by the airport and since this was the weekend, we headed that way. The DR told me the most important thing I could do was make sure you didn't fall asleep. So, off flew Grandma and your great-grandparents (I'm sure feeling very uncertain about what was happening.) and I put you in the car seat singing songs with you so you wouldn't dose. So, I kept an eye on you in the rear view mirror and sang to you as you were in no mood to sing with me. Your head did bob but you didn't fall asleep. Once we got there, the DR checked you over and asked us to wake you every 2 hours at night. We didn't sleep that night, rather was at your bedside and making sure you were breathing.

So, girl, don't go climbing any slides at A&M and falling backwards!
