May Challenge

I've decided that for the month of May, each day I'm going to post something about Kylie. (Her baby book is basically empty--have the pix, just can't get it together and not worrying about it!) So many young moms blog about their child's month birthday, so I'm going to try to capture the past 18 years in one month!

Day 1:

Dear Kylie,

You would never guess it now, but when you were born, your dad was the most cautious driver! When we left the hospital, I sat in the back seat of our blue Honda (sound familiar, ours was light blue though) with you snug in your car seat. Your dad never got close to the speed limit and he would slow way down in anticipation of a possible yellow light. (I know you're laughing now because Dad is certainly not that driver 18 years later!)

But you see, that was one of the first ways we began protecting you! Now, when we ask you to text us to "check in" when you've made your driving destination is another way for us to protect you. If we don't hear from you, we'll be out finding you! We know those days are limited as we won't make you text us when you're at camp and good grief you know we won't be able to stay up your college hours! Even when you're OUR age, we will still try to protect you.
